It’s time for another magical musical mélange from the Rumrunners. Special guests? Uncle Dan Hatfield will be there with his pedal steel and keyboard. Cuzzin’ Amy Toomsen will be playing her rusty, trusty fiddle. New pal Mick DelGreco will be strumming the guitar and singing his heart out. Old regulars? Joe on the drums, Kathy on the bull fiddle, and Dennis twangin’ on his ol’ red guitar.

Another Saturday night, another musical mélange from Rumrunners. Surf, blues, vintage country, with a swingin’ jazzy vibe and hot twangy overtones. A good time will be had by one and all.

The Rumrunners will be back in Rocheport for another rollicking rambunctious
evening of musical fun. Saxaphone, bass fiddle, drums, and guitars — in the
hands of skilled roadhouse musicians. Tunes by Bob Wills, Duke Elllington,
Merle Haggard, Willie Dixon — and an endless procession of lesser known
musical masters.

The wine will be tasty, the service is hasty, the beer is cold, and the company may
be bold. All this along with pizza, desserts, sandwiches, and other culinary
delights.

Music starts at 8:00 pm. No cover charge, no extra charge for outdoor seating or
parking. Come early for the fellowship and food, stay late for the musical
mayhem.

It will be so much fun that words can’t describe it. But I’ll try. Denise will be wailing, Dennis will be twanging, Joe will be banging, and Kathy will be plunking. And then, to add more ingredients to the musical stew, Dan Hatfield will be joining us with his double-neck pedal steel and his traveling 88 keys. Cold beer, warm red wine, excellent food, free parking, no cover charge — join us for another special night at the General Store.

No, not Mickey D’s. No, not Mickey Mouse and Dennis the Menace. It will be Mick DelGreco and Dennis Schubert, pickin’ and singin’ old country and bluegrass numbers. We will try to sing some of that great old “brother harmony” that was all the rage in the 40’s and 50’s, and just might do one of your favorites.

If you’re out for a Katy Trail adventure or an antique-shopping expedition, add us to your agenda. Drop by for Sunday afternoon dessert, ice cream, or something with more of a kick.

No, that ain’t us in the picture — but the music will be kinda like that.

Megan Boyer Band / Mojo’s / On the Deck

One of Columbia’s great springtime traditions is the Friday happy-hour gigs on Mojo’s deck. I will be dragging out my ol’ rusty, trusty mandolin to sit in with the acoustic version of the Megan Boyer Band.

What’s that you say? Can’t play the blues on a tater bug? Au contraire, mon ami! Have you ever heard of Yank Rachell?

We will be cooking up all flavors of the blues from 5 - 7 pm, right there at Mojo’s. Come early and get one of the tables with an umbrella so you can be cool and stay cool.

Does the RR stand for RumRunners?

We’ll be back again for another Saturday night of memorable musical mischief. Joe pounding the drums, Kathy beating the bull fiddle, Denise blowing her horn, and Dennis twangin’ and hangin’ notes in the air. We expect to have another visit from our pal, Dan Hatfield — playing his pedal steel guitar and maybe his piano (if we can find enough room!). The last time Dan joined us, we had so much fun that we couldn’t hardly quit.

John and Dean and all the RGS gang will have a table waiting for you, and good things to eat and drink. Dean turned me on to a new 55-calorie beer a few weeks ago. He claims that I can drink myself thin on the stuff, if I just stick with it. What do you think?

P.S. Congrats to John and Diane. They’ll have been married for 2 weeks by the time this gig rolls around.

It’s time for another visit to the Rocheport General Store. The Rumrunners will be hanging out in front, brewing up a musical storm. Dean and Jessica (or their designated hitters) will be tending bar on the side. John will be in the back, cooking up something tasty to wash down with your favorite beer, wine or sasparilla. The music will be a mix of vintage country & western swing, faux jazz, 60’s rock, and other musical gemstones. It will be a helluva good time for all in attendance. See you there.
